Shopware 6 storefront theme - a plugin-based theme that inherits from the default Storefront (Twig + Bootstrap 5 + Storefront JS plugins). For shops that keep the Shopware checkout and cart and change look, layout and content blocks.
Shopware 6 custom plugin - business logic, own entities, Store API routes, Storefront controllers, an admin module. For integrations (ERP, feeds, payment, shipping), product data extensions, custom content types. Not for look and feel - that is the theme template.
Shopware 6 as a headless back end behind the Store API, front end built with Shopware Frontends (Nuxt 3) or Next.js (`headless-static/CLAUDE.headless-nextjs.md`). This file covers the Shopware side and the contract between the two. Pick it when the project wants its own front end and keeps Shopware for catalogue, cart, checkout and admin.
